Ok I generally dont like Korean imports, linage II put pay to that, but Sword of the New world caught my attention. So off I went and downloaded the game and I entered there world …
Bloody hell, now maybe because I’m used to the same ole same ole fantasy crap thats been spewing out of the great design houses that are Soe, Turbine etc that the moment you hit the character screen and you have your party queing to enter the game all decked out on gothic / anime 17 century get up, you think hello somethings different here … this is further echoed with the whole environment … beautiful and lively and oozing something a little on the different side….
Anyway what was the point of this segement of strangelands, oh innovative design, that is to say 3 characters at once, sounds kinky to me …..
I must admit it I was dubious about the 3 character control etc but man what a breath of fresh air. Its surprisingly how well it works, you can auto pilot through easy mobs, but things really get intersting when you really start to play. Switching from one character to the next on the fly, changing stances, redirecting character to gain aggro instead of attacking this one. Pulling individual back to provide a wider firing arc to support the tank at front … the list goes on.
Anyway Kudos to the designers, for taking a very intersting idea and making it one hell of a intuitive and suprisingly engaging character system … oh and the AI is excellent … Try it out and give the character control a spin if nothing more you can see a new twist on party play…..
