As a follow up to my Episodic Mmorpg question I found a great follow up quote from Max power over at Gameindusrty.biz
“Episodic content gives you a lot of options on how you want to consume the game. As opposed to, say, Halo, where you go buy it and you spend your three weeks getting to the end of it and then you’re done. You have one consumption option whereas with episodic gaming you have a lot of options – and people seem to like choice.”
So are we as consumers too stuck in our old mmorpg ways or can we adjust to episodic content … ?
Personally I could see myself playing 3 – 4 episodic mmorpgs at a time and paying just for what I consume …
Probably the ideal set up for the casual gamer and for the hard core that burn through content. They can come back when ever there is a update instead of capping out and paying a standing monthly subscription and really just raiding the same content over and over …
This could also open up the market for smaller independent mmorpg developers to get in and develop with smaller budgets … any one want to front me a few million to test this theory out

One idea I loved about EQ2 was their implementation of this same thing: the adventure packs. Too bad they were so spread out.
Splitpaw Saga was really more like an expansion pack in the way that it seemed to change the game. I’ve never heard more of a hustle and bustle about Master Spells and powerleveling in EQ2 than I did in the aftermath of that adventure pack.
I just wish they would’ve had more of them, and closer together!
yeah adventure packs are a great idea and I like the optional option to get them as well … so when I’m ready to play them I can download for a small fee and have at them
over at Bilbo’s Blog he talking about player created content and I think this is something that would also tie in with release of episodic content …
Thanks mate. Nice site you got going on here. Got some extra sites to link to which have a bit more information?
